Job description
About the role
Render is looking for a senior‑level individual contributor to lead the evolution of its Analytics Engineering platform. You will partner with analysts, data scientists, and product teams to turn raw data into trusted, reusable models that power executive reporting and AI‑assisted decision‑making.
Key responsibilities
- Own and guide the long‑term architecture of Render’s Analytics Engineering platform, ensuring data quality, scalability, and readiness for AI analytics.
- Design, build, and maintain governed dbt models that serve as authoritative sources for business‑critical metrics across Product, Engineering, Growth, Go‑to‑Market, Finance and other functions.
- Define and improve engineering standards for data modeling, testing, documentation, version control, CI/CD and code review.
- Develop semantic and context layers that enable self‑service and AI‑assisted analytics, making metrics consistent and discoverable.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering to optimise source data quality, warehouse architecture, and BigQuery performance and cost.
Required profile
- 7+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering or Data Engineering, with at least 3 years of production dbt usage.
- Proven ability to set technical direction without formal authority and to mentor analysts and engineers.
- Strong communication skills to translate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Required skills
- Expert‑level SQL and experience with Kimball dimensional modeling.
- Hands‑on experience with dbt, Git, CI/CD pipelines, testing and documentation frameworks.
- Deep knowledge of modern cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Databricks or Snowflake.
- Experience building semantic layers, data contracts, lineage and governance.
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted coding tools (e.g., Codex, Cursor, Claude Code) is a plus.
What we offer
- 4 weeks paid vacation plus 14 weeks fully paid parental leave.
- Employer‑paid medical, dental and vision coverage, plus 401k and life insurance.
- Monthly lifestyle stipend, cell phone and internet subsidies, and home office or commuter benefits.
- Continuous learning support and a diverse, inclusive culture.
