Senior/Staff Actuator Test & Equipment Engineer

About the role

Rhoda AI is building generalist intelligent robots and needs a senior engineer to design, build, and operate test infrastructure that validates actuator performance, efficiency and durability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and construct motor and actuator dynos, gear‑test rigs, cooling benches and durability fixtures, specifying load motors, torque transducers, encoders and drives.
• Define data‑acquisition architecture, sample rates, sensor accuracy and synchronization to ensure high‑quality, traceable measurements.
• Partner with technicians and modeling engineers to develop test plans, run high‑throughput tests and produce clear reports for downstream design decisions.
• Maintain calibration, traceability and uncertainty quantification for all test equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related field.
• 5+ years experience owning test capability for electromechanical systems from concept to production use.
• Strong first‑principles thinking, written communication and an “owner” mindset for data quality.

Required skills

• Dyno and electromechanical test rig design, including load motor sizing and coupling selection.
• Hands‑on instrumentation: torque transducers, encoders, current/voltage sensors, thermocouples/RTDs, accelerometers.
• Data acquisition systems such as NI, dSPACE, Speedgoat or custom solutions.
• CAD for fixture design; MATLAB, Python or LabVIEW for test automation and data analysis.
