About the role
Zeno Power is seeking a highly motivated Senior/Principal Systems Engineer to lead the development and market introduction of Radioisotope Power System (RPS) technologies. The role reports to the Engineering Manager, Systems Engineering and works in a fast‑paced startup environment supporting critical missions on Earth, in space, and at sea.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage system, subsystem, and component requirements.
- Create and maintain system artifacts such as Concepts of Operations (ConOps) and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Implement and enforce design processes and tools, tracking documentation, requirements, and open items.
- Apply Systems Engineering methodology to RPS systems, test equipment, tooling, and integrated systems.
- Track requirements to closure through verification planning and execution.
- Create integration and test plans for hardware procurement through acceptance.
- Coordinate fabrication, integration, and testing teams, collaborating with project managers and external subcontractors.
- Engage with the regulatory team to ensure compliance with code and regulatory requirements.
- Assist project managers in schedule planning and technical activity development.
- Perform trade studies and align engineering and project personnel on design criteria.
Required profile
- B.S. or higher in an engineering discipline with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience developing and implementing Systems Engineering approaches, preferably in aerospace, maritime, or nuclear regulatory environments.
- Knowledge of integrated design of nuclear, extreme‑temperature, and radiological systems.
- Understanding of configuration management principles and design control tools.
- Experience working under quality standards such as NQA‑1 or AS9100.
- Strong technical writing and oral communication abilities.
