About the role
3M is seeking a Senior X-ray Scientist to join its Corporate Research Lab. The role focuses on applying X‑ray scattering and related techniques to solve complex material challenges and drive new product development.
Key responsibilities
- Apply X‑ray scattering measurement and theory to advance R&D analytical capabilities.
- Collaborate with chemists, physicists and engineers on theoretical and practical projects.
- Develop and implement X‑ray scattering technologies that support 3M research and development.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans and reports.
- Stay current with advancements in X‑ray technologies and integrate relevant innovations.
Required profile
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least four years of experience with X‑ray research techniques in a public, private, academic, government or military setting.
- Strong scientific and technical acumen with ability to link science to real‑world applications.
Required skills
- Expertise in X‑ray scattering, X‑ray diffraction, X‑ray microscopy and X‑ray computed tomography (CT).
- Data analytics and data science experience.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
