Senior Vice President of Real Estate Development (Senior Housing)

About the role

This senior leadership position oversees the entire real estate development function for a privately held senior‑housing organization based in Minnesota. The SVP will drive the full development lifecycle, ensuring projects align with the company’s mission, design standards, and financial goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision, evaluation, and direction to Development and Construction Project Managers and related staff.
• Recruit, screen, train, and orient new team members in accordance with company policies.
• Manage the development department and all associated projects from conception through turnover.
• Lead site feasibility studies, negotiate purchase agreements, secure financing, and obtain necessary approvals.
• Conduct financial analysis and prepare pro‑forma models to assess project viability.
• Coordinate legal document preparation and execution in partnership with the CEO.
• Ensure appropriate insurance coverage and transition from builder’s risk to standard policies.
• Develop short‑ and long‑term departmental plans and oversee implementation through regular supervision and meetings.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior‑housing or related real‑estate development.
• Proven leadership ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of development processes, financing, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work closely with executive leadership (CEO, COO) on strategic initiatives.
