Senior Transmission Services Specialist

About the role

Puget Sound Energy's Transmission Services team is hiring a Senior Transmission Services Specialist to help keep electricity flowing reliably across the Pacific Northwest. The role manages transmission and generator interconnection requests from start to finish, ensuring customer applications meet regulatory deadlines and comply with the Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT). It also plays a key part in shaping FERC compliance programs, including research, mentoring, training and strategic guidance. Key responsibilities

• Process FERC transmission and generator interconnection requests per the OATT and FERC regulations, and manage requests from contract negotiation through execution
• Respond to customer inquiries and coordinate with internal departments and outside entities
• Train and mentor the Transmission Services OATT Administration team and develop training programs on regulatory compliance
• Implement the FERC transmission and OATT compliance program and coordinate with compliance personnel in other departments
• Support audits, interact with internal and external auditors and implement corrective solutions
• Provide input to federal and state rulemaking proceedings and communicate regulatory proposals
• Help assess the effectiveness of compliance controls and build risk-control processes
• Support the department's website and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics or engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Five years of relevant experience, preferably in the energy industry as an analyst, engineer or compliance specialist
• Thorough understanding of FERC transmission and generator interconnection procedures
• Understanding of utility operations, policy issues and FERC regulations
• Self-directed, able to mentor peers and work independently in a team

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access or other database applications
• Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and meet critical deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
