Senior Test Automation Engineer – Functional Safety

About the role

Join a joint venture between Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies to lead the development of automated test solutions that verify functional safety mechanisms across electric vehicle programs. You will build and scale in‑house test frameworks that provide evidence of safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts for system‑level functional safety verification.
• Implement fault‑injection test strategies on LabCar, vehicle, and HIL environments.
• Support automated testing for steer‑by‑wire and brake‑by‑wire systems on DynoHIL test benches.
• Collaborate with functional safety engineers across domains to understand ASIL targets and safety metrics.
• Build automated reporting pipelines that deliver requirement‑level test coverage and traceability.
• Analyze test data, identify anomalies, and provide technical recommendations.
• Align test execution with software release schedules and program milestones.
• Contribute to integration test strategy definition and toolchain selection as automation scales.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, Software, or Computer Engineering.
• Experience working with functional safety (FuSa) concepts and ASIL classifications.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with software, hardware, and systems teams.
