Senior Systems Engineer

About the role

Leidos, a Fortune 500 company serving national security, engineering and health customers, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Laurel. The role provides systems engineering and technical direction across requirements, architecture, design, integration, verification and lifecycle management of complex mission systems, supporting acquisition and engineering activities such as DoDAF and SOA implementation, risk assessment, certification and accreditation, and JCIDS documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements, CONOPS and high-level architectures to develop system requirements specifications, and manage system and derived requirements with formal change processes and traceability.
• Develop and evaluate architecture and design solutions, implement SOA solutions and operational standards using DoDAF, and prepare timeline-analysis diagrams and performance analyses.
• Take part in interface definition, capture interface designs in a common control format, and coordinate integration across teams and approval of system definitions.
• Define verification methods and plans, support certification and accreditation, and keep requirements, design, interfaces and test aligned.
• Assess program risks and quantify consequences of failure, and apply system-performance analysis to inform engineering decisions.
• Contribute to systems engineering plans, interface control documents, JCIDS documentation, WBS and the Integrated Master Plan, and review technical documentation.
• Provide technical direction and leadership for development, integration, testing and stakeholder coordination of complex hardware and software systems.
