Senior System Engineer – ABAP/BTP

About the role

We are looking for a Senior System Engineer with deep expertise in ABAP and Business Technology Platform (BTP) to ensure the reliability, performance and evolution of AutoZone’s critical hardware, software and network environments. The role combines hands‑on development, system architecture, and mentorship to drive sustainable business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Participate across the full systems development life‑cycle, from design and coding to testing, rollout and production support.
• Develop, maintain and debug software applications and system components using a variety of technologies.
• Design and maintain software, hardware and network architectures, including security operations.
• Plan and track project work accurately, ensuring timely delivery.
• Mentor less‑experienced team members, conduct code reviews and define coding standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
• 8–15 years of demonstrated experience in systems engineering or software development.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with subject‑matter expertise in multiple functional areas.
• Proven ability to teach, coach and supervise technical staff.

Required skills

• UNIX, Linux, Windows operating systems.
• Programming languages: Cobol, Java, C, C++.
• Database technologies: MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, DB2/SQL, Informix, Greenplum.
• Big data and processing frameworks: Hadoop.
• Application platforms: ATG, QT4.
• Middleware and transaction processing: JCL, CSP, CICS.
• Networking: TCP/IP, LAN administration.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
