Senior Staff Infrastructure Engineer - Virtualization

About the role

TensorWave is building a high‑performance, AI‑focused cloud platform that removes infrastructure friction for developers. As a Senior Staff Infrastructure Engineer you will lead the design and evolution of the company’s virtualization stack, moving from legacy solutions to a modern KVM/QEMU‑based architecture that can handle dense GPU workloads at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a scalable virtualization platform for high‑density compute and GPU workloads.
• Transition existing platforms (e.g., Proxmox) to KVM/QEMU‑based solutions.
• Define standards for VM lifecycle, performance isolation, resource allocation, and resilience.
• Optimize virtualization for NUMA alignment, CPU pinning, PCIe topology, GPU passthrough and device assignment.
• Collaborate with networking and storage teams to integrate high‑throughput networking (SR‑IOV, RDMA) and distributed storage.
• Automate hypervisor deployment, image pipelines, cluster scaling and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot system‑level performance issues across compute, memory, storage and network layers.
• Contribute to long‑term platform architecture and infrastructure strategy.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems or platform engineering.
• Deep expertise with Linux‑based virtualization (KVM/QEMU, libvirt or similar).
• Strong understanding of CPU scheduling, NUMA, memory management, and storage I/O performance.
• Experience operating virtualization platforms at scale (hundreds of hosts).
• Solid networking fundamentals, including Linux bridges, bonding, VLANs and high‑performance concepts.
• Proficiency with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across distributed systems.
