Senior Staff Infrastructure Engineer – Kubernetes Platform

About the role

TensorWave is seeking a Senior Staff Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, evolution, and reliability of its Kubernetes control‑plane platform. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to build a resilient, multi‑tenant, regionally‑scaled Kubernetes environment that powers AI compute at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve the Kubernetes control‑plane architecture across multiple regions and data centers.
• Define and implement multi‑tenant cluster models, including shared control planes, virtual clusters (e.g., vcluster, Kamaji), and isolation policies.
• Own platform reliability: participate in on‑call rotation, lead incident response, and resolve control‑plane instability, API server saturation, and scheduling contention.
• Manage the full lifecycle of clusters – provisioning, upgrades, scaling, and decommissioning.
• Develop strategies for regional scaling, cluster topology, and failure‑domain design.
• Design ingress/egress networking, troubleshoot pod‑to‑pod traffic, and integrate high‑performance CNI solutions (Cilium preferred).
• Improve observability and resilience of control‑plane components, lead root‑cause analyses, and define reliability metrics.
• Collaborate with DevOps, compute, storage, and networking teams to align platform design with underlying infrastructure.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or distributed systems.
• Deep hands‑on experience operating Kubernetes at scale in production.
• Background in large‑scale environments such as CSPs or hyperscale data centers.
• Proven track record scaling Kubernetes across multiple clusters, regions, or data centers.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, multi‑tenant isolation, and policy enforcement.
