Senior Staff Engineer, Advanced Operations

About the role

Stryker is hiring a Senior Staff Process Engineer for its Advanced Operations team in Portage, Michigan. You will help transfer cutting-edge surgical product designs from R&D into production, working with cross-functional teams to launch high-quality products. The position is onsite and focuses on process development, especially transfer molding and related technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Support new product and process introductions, following Stryker's new product development protocols, with a focus on plastic injection molding.
• Define specifications, run capability studies and generate inspection documentation to guarantee process and product quality.
• Evaluate components and equipment against specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements, and work with quality engineers on testing protocols.
• Lead equipment acquisition, from specification and negotiation through installation and validation.
• Run root cause analyses, process reviews and experimental tests using statistical and validation techniques.
• Create and approve validation documentation in line with GMP and safety standards.
• Train manufacturing team members on new processes and technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• 6+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience.
• Ability to read complex engineering drawings and understand geometric dimensions and tolerances.
• Experience solving complex manufacturing and design problems, with good judgement for mechanical and structural design.
• Able to lift up to 20 pounds, work with small parts and use hand tools and inspection equipment.

Required skills

• Plastic injection molding, polymers and plastic assembly methods such as adhesives and welding.
• Preferred: tooling design, R&D or new product development experience, CAD, and knowledge of DFM statistical tools and validation techniques.

Salary range: $102,600 - $171,000 USD per year; travel of 20%.
