Senior Solar Technician

About the role

The Senior Solar Technician leads field service operations for Carolina Solar Services, overseeing maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of utility‑scale solar facilities. The role includes training junior staff, ensuring safety, and delivering high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair utility‑scale solar generators.
• Lead commissioning, quality‑assurance inspections, and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Provide timely field service reports to operations and clients.
• Train and mentor less‑experienced field staff on safe work practices.
• Perform vegetative maintenance and participate in on‑call weekend/holiday schedules.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Minimum 3 years of field experience in utility solar PV (or 6 years of related experience).
• Ability to lift up to 30 lb frequently and work at heights using a safety harness.
• Willingness to work occasional overtime, overnight travel, and on‑call rotations.

Required skills

• Utility‑scale solar PV troubleshooting and repair.
• Commissioning and preventative maintenance of photovoltaic systems.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1910.269 and NFPA 70E safety standards.
• Understanding of electrical theory and photovoltaic power generation.
• Experience with inverter system operation and OEM‑certified training.
