Senior Software Engineer, Productivity

About the role

Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy, serving more than 675,000 businesses. Its Infrastructure & Productivity team builds the platforms that help engineers move faster, ship higher-quality software and operate reliably, covering developer productivity, AI-enabled automation, CI/CD and cloud infrastructure. The role is based in the Seattle office three days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Use AI and machine learning to streamline developer workflows, automate repetitive tasks and improve code quality.
• Design, implement and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to increase delivery efficiency and reduce build times.
• Build and maintain internal developer platforms and tooling, including messaging platforms, observability systems and workflow automation tools.
• Drive infrastructure reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident management, on-call participation and postmortems for P1/P2 incidents.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify productivity bottlenecks and deliver tooling that improves the developer experience.
• Write clean, well-tested code, contribute to technical standards and documentation, and champion quality gates and change-management practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling or platform infrastructure at scale.
• Track record of technical leadership, architectural decision-making and mentoring across teams.
• Strong system design skills and experience reviewing RFCs and giving deep insights on system designs.
• Hands-on experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP or Aliyun) and infrastructure tools (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker).
• Preferred: experience with AI/ML tools or LLMs, observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, ELK stack), incident response, platform engineering or developer experience roles, and a data-driven approach to measuring developer productivity.

• Backend languages such as Python, Java, Go, Kotlin, Rust or Node.js and their frameworks.
• Server technologies optimized for high concurrency and high availability.
