Senior Software Engineer – Perception

About the role

In this role, you'll develop and deploy advanced machine learning models that solve real‑world perception challenges for autonomous systems. You'll own major features from model development through deployment, collaborating with researchers, perception engineers, autonomy engineers, and platform teams to bring cutting‑edge AI capabilities into production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, train, fine‑tune, and maintain state‑of‑the‑art vision, vision‑language, and vision‑language‑action models.
• Build scalable data pipelines, supervised fine‑tuning workflows, and evaluation loops to continuously improve model performance.
• Deploy and optimise models for embedded hardware using ONNX, TensorRT, and hardware‑accelerated inference frameworks.
• Apply modern ML techniques to solve perception and autonomy problems across aerial and other autonomous systems.
• Translate cutting‑edge research into production‑ready capabilities, balancing performance, robustness, efficiency, and reliability.
• Partner with perception, autonomy, platform, and software engineering teams to integrate ML capabilities into mission‑ready systems.
• Develop benchmarks, testing methodologies, and evaluation frameworks to measure performance and identify failure modes.
• Improve training infrastructure, tooling, deployment workflows, and model lifecycle management to accelerate experimentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combinations of education and experience).
• Proficiency in machine‑learning fundamentals.
• Experience training and deploying computer‑vision ML models in a production setting.
• Strong understanding of 3D vision problems and algorithms.
• Hands‑on experience with PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Demonstrated expertise deploying models using TensorRT and ONNX.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to translate research into practical applications.
• Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
