Senior Software Engineer – Embedded Flight Systems

About the role

Moog’s Space and Defense Group is expanding its Space Vehicles team and seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver real‑time embedded flight software for spacecraft buses, orbital maneuvering vehicles, and other space platforms. The position is based in Arvada, CO and follows a 9/80 hybrid schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and verify real‑time embedded flight software using C/C++ and Python.
• Lead technical architecture, define software interfaces, and conduct design reviews.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers, promoting best practices.
• Develop and maintain software for VxWorks and Linux targets across multiple toolchains.
• Build simulators and automated test frameworks for integration and regression testing.
• Execute unit, integration, and system‑level testing and support CI/CD pipelines.
• Debug software in close collaboration with hardware and system engineering teams.
• Review requirements, specifications, and code, providing constructive feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in embedded systems; 8+ years preferred.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
