Senior Software Development Engineer - Web Developer

About the role

Esri's Professional Services is looking for a full-stack developer with a front-end focus to contribute across a suite of GIS software products covering indoor mapping, transportation, utilities and system observability. The role builds responsive, accessible applications on ArcGIS that visualize, analyze and interact with geospatial data, and supports AI-driven automation, reality capture and digital twins.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain responsive user interfaces with React and other JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, emphasizing clarity, performance and maintainability
• Create interactive visualizations and UI components that support data-driven decisions
• Define efficient APIs and data models with the rest of the stack to reduce latency
• Write clean, modular code and take part in peer reviews
• Work with UX designers and product engineers on user-centric features across devices
• Take part in Scrum ceremonies and help troubleshoot issues across devices
• Mentor junior front-end developers and stay current with front-end technologies

Required profile

• 5+ years of software development experience, focused on front-end engineering and user-centric web apps
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related STEM field
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, able to explain front-end concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Leadership in design and code reviews and knowledge sharing

Required skills

• JavaScript and TypeScript, with React and REST API integration
• HTML5, CSS3 and responsive design for desktop, tablet and mobile
• Common patterns (MVVM, MVC) and SOLID and DRY principles
• SQL and RDBMS such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Oracle
• Git and Agile
• Preferred: Calcite Design System, ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, ArcGIS, front-end CI/CD tools (Webpack, ESLint, Snyk, SonarQube)
