Senior Software Development Engineer - Gen AI

About the role

Esri's Professional Services division is looking for an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer to help advance geospatial data quality capabilities across the ArcGIS platform. You will design and develop software used by a large community of GIS professionals to ensure quality and consistency in their geospatial data, working in a cross-functional team of engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop Python-based machine learning components that help users assess, understand and improve spatial data quality
• Build software following industry-standard design patterns, development methodologies and deployment models
• Design, develop, test and integrate AI/ML algorithms into product releases and evolve data quality capabilities for customers
• Build scalable ML pipelines and data engineering processes to improve system architecture
• Work with product engineers, researchers, product teams and domain experts
• Collaborate in an Agile Scrum team with iterative development cycles

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in a similar position, with emphasis on Python, machine learning or AI systems
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics or a STEM-related field
• Ability to analyze software and algorithms and identify improvements

Required skills

• Strong understanding of object-oriented principles, software architecture and API design
• Python, ML frameworks and RAG systems
• Preferred: C++ in large-scale or performance-critical software, experience with large geospatial datasets and vector databases, knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise and enterprise geodatabases, REST-based services and cloud deployment patterns, model evaluation and agentic workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and a Master's degree
