Senior Site Reliability Engineer – Identity Services

About the role

Barclays is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to own the reliability, availability and performance of its global identity platform serving millions of customers. You will work in a fast‑paced environment leveraging AI‑assisted development and automation to build self‑healing infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure high service availability through SLOs, error budgets and automation‑driven toil reduction.
• Lead incident response for P1/P2 outages, coordinate bridges and drive root‑cause analyses and post‑mortems.
• Develop tools and scripts to automate operational processes and improve system resilience.
• Collaborate with development teams to embed reliability, scalability and performance best practices into the software development lifecycle.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps or Platform Engineering with a track record of mentoring highly available, scalable production systems.
• Strong incident management background, including triage, resolution and RCA of critical production incidents.

Required skills

• AWS and Azure cloud platforms, Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation), container orchestration (ECS, EKS, AKS).
• Automation and scripting with Python, Bash, Go.
• Experience with Ping Identity or similar IAM platforms and Open Policy Agent.
• Knowledge of IAM, authentication/authorization protocols, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, canary and blue‑green deployments.
• Observability tools such as CloudWatch, Splunk.

What we offer

• Competitive base salary $170,000‑$230,000 USD.
