Senior Java Developer - AVP

About the role

Barclays is seeking a Senior Java Developer at the Assistant Vice President level to design, develop, and support business‑critical compliance and regulatory technology platforms. You will work on secure, scalable, and resilient solutions using modern engineering practices and collaborate closely with business and technology teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high‑quality software using Core Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Design, build, and maintain RESTful services, ensuring performance, security, and scalability.
• Implement database solutions with PL/SQL, schema design, and query optimization.
• Deploy and support containerized applications on Kubernetes/OpenShift, leveraging Docker and cloud‑native patterns.
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins), code reviews, and production support.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and deliver integrated solutions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with Core Java, multithreading, concurrency, and performance tuning.
• Proven ability to design and implement RESTful microservices using Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Cloud, ELK, and OpenAPI.
• Strong database expertise in PL/SQL, schema design, and integration with JMS/Kafka.
• Hands‑on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift) and Docker.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins) and automated testing.
