Senior Research Development Officer

About the role

The Texas A&M University System Offices is seeking a Senior Research Development Officer to lead large‑scale research development initiatives across its member institutions. The role provides strategic guidance to faculty and research leaders to enhance competitiveness for federal, foundation, industry and philanthropic funding.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, edit and refine proposal narratives for federal, foundation and industry sponsors.
• Collaborate with faculty to articulate research impact, innovation and broader impacts.
• Review proposals for compliance with sponsor guidelines and evaluation criteria.
• Develop boilerplate content, institutional descriptions and shared proposal resources.
• Coordinate proposal timelines and writing schedules.
• Deliver writing workshops and grantsmanship training.
• Support creation of white papers, concept papers and strategic research communications.
• Maintain quality‑assurance processes for major proposal submissions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree.
• At least four years of experience in grant writing, scientific editing or research communications.
• Demonstrated success with funded federal proposals.
• Strong organizational and decision‑making abilities.

Required skills

• Exceptional writing and editing capabilities.
• Project management proficiency.
• Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
