Senior Quality Manager

About the role

Amprius Technologies, a manufacturer of high-energy lithium-ion cells built on silicon anode technology, is looking for a Senior Quality Manager to own quality across the business, from incoming materials and contract manufacturers to the cells shipped to customers. The role leads the quality management system, earns and maintains AS9100 certification and builds a supplier and contract manufacturer quality program. It reports to the Managing Director, Operations, involves travel of up to 20% to supplier and CM sites in Asia, and is based in Fremont.

Key responsibilities

• Own the QMS, lead AS9100 certification and maintenance through surveillance audits, and set quality policy, objectives and metrics
• Own document control and records, working with PLM and change control
• Build the supplier quality program: audits, qualification, PPAP or first-article approval and ongoing monitoring
• Publish quarterly scorecards (yield, cost, on-time delivery) for each supplier and CM, and drive CAPA to close issues quickly
• Support new CM and second-source qualifications with Supply Chain
• Ensure every shipped product is tested and certified (UN 38.3, IEC 62133 and customer requirements)
• Lead incoming, in-process and outgoing inspection and test strategy at Fremont and at CMs
• Lead customer quality: complaints, returns, failure analysis and 8D reports
• Run Lean and Six Sigma improvement projects and hire and develop the quality team, including supplier quality engineers

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science or a related technical field
• 10+ years in quality for manufactured hardware, including 4+ years managing quality teams
• Has led an organization through AS9100 or ISO 9001 certification as QMS owner
• Nice to have: lithium-ion cell or battery quality, quality oversight of Asian contract manufacturers, ASQ CQE/CQM, Six Sigma Black Belt, AS9100 lead auditor

• Salary range of $159,000 to $222,000, depending on knowledge, experience and education
