Senior Project Studies Engineer (Civil Engineer IV)

About the role

The State of Illinois, Department of Transportation, is hiring two Senior Project Studies Engineers (Civil Engineer IV) in Ottawa, Illinois. The position is accountable for supervising engineers and technicians in preparing studies and plans for highway projects, and for negotiating and reviewing studies and plans prepared by consultants. It is a salaried, full-time union position with an anticipated hybrid schedule of 1 to 5 days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure that studies and plans prepared in the Projects and Environmental Studies Unit and by consulting engineers are accurate, complete, compliant with policies and procedures, and represent the most cost-efficient designs.
• Motivate, train and evaluate subordinate personnel.
• Coordinate the work of subordinates with other sections of the bureau and consulting engineers so that studies and plans are finished on schedule.
• Perform duties in line with departmental safety rules and in a way that treats all employees fairly.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, or as a Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois.
• Four years of experience (the text is cut off).
• Bilingual skills are welcome; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
