Senior Project Manager – Sitework

About the role

Our client, a respected sitework contractor in the Charleston market, is looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead multiple earthwork, grading, and utility projects. This role is designed as a succession path toward an Operations Manager position within 12‑24 months, offering a unique blend of project leadership and executive development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sitework construction projects from pre‑construction through close‑out.
• Manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, procurement, and client relationships.
• Mentor project managers, engineers, and field teams.
• Collaborate with estimating and field operations to ensure successful delivery.
• Monitor financial performance and implement profitability strategies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with owners, developers, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and schedule standards.
• Work with senior leadership to learn operational systems and gradually assume broader responsibilities.

Required profile

• Extensive project management experience in sitework, heavy civil, excavation, grading, underground utilities, or land development.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering strong financial results.
• Strong knowledge of scheduling, estimating, budgeting, and contract administration.
• Experience leading teams and developing junior staff.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
