Senior Project Manager – Mechanical Contractor

About the role

The Senior Project Manager will lead the delivery of HVAC, plumbing and process piping projects for a top‑five ENR‑ranked, employee‑owned mechanical contractor. You will be responsible for building client relationships, driving sales, and coordinating field labor to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a client base while managing HVAC, plumbing and process sales.
• Lead all project management functions including concept engineering, estimating, proposal writing and client meetings.
• Oversee contract execution, procurement, and field installation sequencing.
• Forecast budgets, prepare cost projections and control expenses within agreed limits.
• Prepare and manage letters, proposals, contracts, change orders and billing documentation.
• Coordinate internal teams (Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Construction, Service) to ensure seamless project execution.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors and industry partners.
• Participate in special studies or committees to advance technical capabilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in estimating, design or management of HVAC or process piping projects ranging from $50,000 to $25+ million.
• Proven ability to work independently, demonstrate high integrity and develop new business.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to handle a high volume of issues.
• Active involvement in industry or community organizations.
