Senior Project Engineer

About the role

Agropur is hiring a Senior Project Engineer in Appleton, Weyauwega, Little Chute or Luxemburg, Wisconsin. The engineer works with fast-paced cross-functional teams to solve complex issues, set goals, track deliverables and report progress. The role covers engineering assessments, cost estimates, design requirements and execution of capital projects, working closely with plant management and corporate functions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct engineering assessments, cost estimates, design requirements and execution of capital projects
• Work with plant management and corporate functions on project scope, process design, capital and expense estimates, contractor/vendor selection, equipment specifications and purchases, implementation timelines and execution plans
• Review deliverables prepared by the construction team
• Prepare process designs, equipment specifications and capital estimates for upgrades, system modifications and installation/commissioning of new assets
• Ensure capital projects comply with code and compliance requirements, and maintain compliance with Quality Assurance policies, reporting potential food safety issues immediately
• Coordinate implementation, write technical specifications, prepare plans and quotes, and allocate contracts for capital expenditure projects
• Communicate regularly with on-site contractors, troubleshoot production problems and propose capital projects when needed
• Manage project budgets, perform cost/benefit analysis of design alternatives, interface with vendors and suppliers, and support environmental permitting and dairy manufacturing compliance
• Assist in plant start-up and commissioning, and conduct plant assessments to identify asset deficiencies

Required profile

• 5 to 10 years of experience in large capital project engineering and project management
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar degree/experience
• Experience in dairy, food or sanitary processes strongly preferred
• Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec
