Senior Product Designer - Agentic AI Products

About the role

Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is hiring a Product Designer (open level R5250) for its Special Projects team, which sits within the CTO's office. The team works alongside product teams and builds reference implementations for the Hivemind software ecosystem, and the designer will shape the user experience of agentic AI products such as an enterprise knowledge assistant, an agent-driven engineering platform and enterprise AI/data applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build the user experience of agentic AI products, prototype in code and ship working React/TypeScript implementations into production.
• Design core interaction patterns: streaming responses, citations and provenance, multi-modal input, artifact sharing, and human-in-the-loop review and approval surfaces.
• Design interfaces for foundation-model autonomy architectures and model lifecycle tooling, including evaluation dashboards, trace inspection, observability and verification surfaces.
• Run user research with engineers, operators and executives, define personas and turn findings into design decisions.
• Analyse competing agentic and enterprise AI products and share findings with engineering and product leadership.
• Establish reusable design patterns and a component vocabulary for AI applications, and drive adoption by measuring usage and iterating daily.

Required profile

• 12+ years designing and building production software interfaces, with end-to-end ownership from research through shipped product.
• Expert-level React/TypeScript, writing production-quality front-end code.
• Portfolio of shipped tools or applications showing strong interaction design and visual craft.
• Experience designing LLM-powered experiences (streaming, progressive rendering, loading states, context and conversation management).
• Experience running user research and usability testing and acting on the results.
• Strong software hygiene: Git, code review, testing, CI/CD.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous conditions.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of client and UI state management, the DOM, browser APIs, WebSockets and Server-Sent Events.
• Experience with Linux, Docker and a major cloud platform (Azure, GCP, AWS).
• Preferred: developer tools, data visualization (D3, WebGL), design systems, debugging UIs for generative AI, Electron, video game UX, low-code/no-code design, and comfort reading C++, Python or Go.
