Associate Designer - Kids

About the role

SKIMS, a global brand of underwear, loungewear, shapewear and essentials, is hiring an Associate Designer for its Kids category. The role supports the design team from concept through production, working with Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Merchandising and Production to bring seasonal collections to life with a focus on fit, functionality, quality and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design team from concept to production and create apparel designs across kids' underwear, loungewear, sleepwear, basics, activewear and seasonal capsules.
• Create and update sketches, technical flats, CADs, colorways and presentation materials, and maintain tech packs, line sheets and design documentation.
• Research trends, markets, competitors and consumers to identify new product opportunities.
• Help develop seasonal color palettes, prints, graphics, trims, fabrics and construction details.
• Maintain design libraries, fabric archives, color standards and sample inventory, and support fittings by preparing samples and tracking revisions.
• Partner with Product Development and Technical Design, review prototypes and give feedback on design, fit and quality.
• Assist with seasonal presentations, merchandising reviews and meetings, and track seasonal calendars so deliverables are on time.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design or a related field.
• 1-3 years of apparel design experience or relevant internships, preferably in children's apparel, intimates or ready-to-wear.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, fit and apparel development.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• CADs, technical flats and design presentations.
• Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with PLM systems is preferred.
