Senior Process Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join BASF’s Dispersions & Resins engineering team in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The role supports the North American business by driving process optimization, new product scale‑up and capital project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Represent manufacturing on capital projects, overseeing commissioning and start‑up.
• Lead process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis and provide technical support to operations.
• Manage new product scale‑up activities, including recipe development, trial oversight and commercialization.
• Conduct risk assessments and Management of Change reviews to ensure plant safety.
• Identify and lead continuous‑improvement projects to reduce waste and variation.
• Execute Process Hazard Analyses and collaborate with EH&S specialists for regulatory compliance.
• Maintain process safety information supporting BASF’s PSM/RMP program.

Required profile

• BS in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 6 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record of implementing process modifications to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Experience facilitating root‑cause analysis and coordinating corrective actions.
• Background in dispersion manufacturing is preferred.

Required skills

• Programming and operation of DCS/PLC platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Delta V, ABB).
• Lean, Six Sigma or Kaizen methodologies.
• Root‑cause analysis techniques.
• Process safety and risk‑assessment expertise.
• Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) execution.
