Senior Pre-Award Grant Administrator - Cluster 1

About the role

The Senior Pre-Award Grant Administrator supports externally funded research grants and contracts for Georgetown University’s Cluster 1, acting as the primary liaison with sponsors and managing the full grant lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Review, negotiate, and administer research grants and contracts.
• Serve as the main point of contact with external sponsors.
• Prepare and submit proposals on behalf of the university.
• Set up new awards and process changes in Georgetown’s financial system (GMS).
• Support researchers across multiple departments, handling proposal submission, award set‑up, award management, and closeout activities.
• Provide leadership, training, and oversight to the Grants and Contracts Manager within the cluster.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5–7 years of progressive experience in university or non‑profit grants management.
• Knowledge of NIH funding mechanisms (R01, P01, P30, T32) and foundation proposals.
• Ability to adapt to changing policies and prioritize in a high‑volume environment.
• Strong financial accounting skills and high proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with financial systems, accounting, and cost‑accounting standards for grants.
• Collaborative, customer‑oriented approach with professional communication skills.
