Senior Platform Engineer – Hadoop

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer specializing in Hadoop to provide world‑class support and expertise across its Big Data environments. The role will drive technical thought leadership, shape technology roadmaps and ensure the reliability of mission‑critical data platforms that power Mastercard’s global payments ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the subject‑matter expert for Mastercard’s Big Data engineering team, supporting existing Hadoop and related platforms.
• Collaborate with application and development teams to gather requirements, provide accurate effort estimates and deliver solutions.
• Participate in 24×7 operational support for highly available Big Data environments, handling incidents and change management.
• Investigate emerging technologies, define best practices and lead adoption of new capabilities aligned with Mastercard’s data strategy.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, security and operational procedures.
• Educate peers and cross‑train teammates on Big Data concepts and platform usage.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering mission‑critical Big Data projects in a collaborative, enterprise setting.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex issues in production environments.
• Hands‑on experience migrating workloads from traditional infrastructures to modern Big Data platforms.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with diverse technical and business stakeholders.
