Senior Payroll Manager – Payroll Operations Lead

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager to lead Payroll Operations for a fast‑growing multinational healthcare organization. The role oversees end‑to‑end payroll for more than 20,000 employees across the United States and Canada, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of ~10 payroll professionals serving the U.S. and Canada.
• Oversee accurate, on‑time payroll processing for exempt, non‑exempt, hourly, salaried and incentive‑based staff.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial and local payroll regulations and hospitality labor laws.
• Manage payroll audits, regulatory filings and reporting requirements.
• Establish strong internal controls and governance to mitigate risk.
• Partner with HR, Benefits, Finance, Accounting and Tax teams to maintain data integrity.
• Oversee payroll reconciliations, tax compliance, year‑end processing and related reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement, process automation and system optimization initiatives.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert on payroll policies, procedures and compliance.
• Develop performance metrics and reporting for payroll operations.
• Support growth initiatives, acquisitions and workforce expansions from a payroll integration perspective.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business Administration or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience, including management of large‑scale payroll operations.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex, high‑volume payroll environments.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll regulations, tax requirements and wage‑hour laws.
• Experience with payroll system optimization, automation and reporting enhancements.
