Senior Operations Manager

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to lead production oversight, quality control, process optimization, and team management for its ultra‑precision optics manufacturing facility in Boulder, Colorado.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily manufacturing operations, implement production schedules and ensure on‑time delivery.
• Maintain product quality by working with the quality control team on inspection protocols, defect detection and corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma or similar methodologies to boost productivity, reduce costs and minimize waste.
• Lead and develop a team of engineers, technicians and operators through training, mentoring and performance evaluations.
• Oversee maintenance and calibration of precision manufacturing equipment and stay current with optics technology.
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, supply chain, sales and marketing to align production capabilities with market demands.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety throughout the facility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Materials Science or related field (master’s degree beneficial).
• At least 10 years of manufacturing experience in precision optics, semiconductors, lasers or aerospace, with 7+ years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record managing high‑precision production environments.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar process‑improvement methodologies.
