Senior Occupational Safety Coordinator

About the role

The Senior Occupational Safety Coordinator supports the Fire and Life Safety Officer in ensuring construction, fire, life safety, and occupational health compliance across the UAMS campus.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct safety audits to assess compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Evaluate employee and student safety, recommend corrective actions, and perform follow‑up audits.
• Provide general, electrical, and fire safety training to university employees and students.
• Develop and update policies, procedures, and SOPs to reflect regulatory changes.
• Maintain administrative records for the Safety Compliance Division.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, safety, industrial hygiene, chemistry, physics, or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in occupational health and safety.
• Ability to follow oral instructions and communicate effectively in writing.

Required skills

• OSHA HAZWOPER certification (40‑hour initial training with annual refresher).
• CPR/AED certification.
• Knowledge of safety codes, standards, and regulatory compliance.
