Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer (Automation Engineer)

About the role

Amgen is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer (Automation Engineer) to focus on automation system reliability, control system design and improvements, and the digital transformation of manufacturing systems. The role centres on Rockwell and AVEVA Wonderware/PLC automation, GMP compliance, commissioning and lifecycle ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as subject matter expert in manufacturing systems and digital technologies.
• Lead implementation and support of MES, SCADA, PLC integration and other manufacturing IT tier systems.
• Define system requirements with multi-functional teams and develop documentation such as user requirements, design specifications and test plans.
• Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolution with IT and vendor teams.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP, data integrity and cybersecurity, and support validation, change control and audits.
• Analyse performance data, train users, drive continuous improvement and stay informed on new technologies.

Required profile

• Basic: doctorate in engineering, or master's degree with 2 years of manufacturing systems/automation experience, or bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience.
• Preferred: experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, on-site production troubleshooting, 3+ years with AVEVA Wonderware Intouch and Rockwell PLC/SCADA, and knowledge of computerized-system validation and data integrity.

Required skills

• Automation system commissioning, FAT/SAT, and process-control network architecture and cybersecurity.
• Integration via OPC, Profibus, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP and OEM skid interfaces.
• GMP/GxP compliance, including 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP 5, ISA-88, ISA-95 and GDP.
• Bioprocess unit operations such as media preparation, bioreactors, chromatography, filtration and UF/DF.
