Senior Manager, Risk Management

About the role

The Department of Risk Management at the University of Miami Health campus is seeking a full‑time Senior Manager to lead and supervise risk management programs. This role focuses on minimizing patient injuries and adverse events through proactive risk control, reduction, and prevention initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and analyze the frequency and causes of patient injuries.
• Direct the coordination and maintenance of the Event Reporting System (ERS), reviewing reports to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct basic and complex preventive risk assessments of processes, procedures, and programs.
• Oversee incident reporting, timely review, analysis, and investigation of event reports, grievances, and complaints.
• Facilitate resolution of quality‑of‑care complaints with Patient Relations, Physician Leadership, and Corporate Patient Advocate.
• Review, analyze, and submit AHCA, DOH, and other regulatory reportable events for approval.
• Participate in Root Cause and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) with the Quality Team.
• Develop and deliver summary reports of trend analyses to appropriate committees.
• Update policies and procedures in collaboration with senior medical risk officers.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in healthcare risk management and patient safety.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret event data and identify high‑risk areas.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements (e.g., AHCA, DOH).
• Proven ability to lead investigations and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience preparing reports for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
