Senior Manager, Patient Access

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Senior Manager to lead Patient Access operations across multiple hospitals and clinics. This full‑time position oversees the front‑end revenue cycle, ensuring smooth registration, financial counseling, and payment collection while enhancing patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, supervise, train, and discipline staff; prepare performance reports.
• Maintain 24‑hour staffing levels and provide on‑call support as needed.
• Plan, organize, and control daily patient access activities to meet departmental goals, including accurate patient registration, financial counseling, care coordination, and payment collection.
• Implement business initiatives and achieve key performance indicators such as patient satisfaction, co‑pay collection, registration processing time, and denial rates.
• Develop short‑ and long‑term strategies, generate access reports, and identify barriers to patient access.
• Review and update departmental policies, recommend workflow and technology improvements, and manage the annual budget with cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, regulations, and internal controls, providing staff education on changes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading multi‑disciplinary teams within a healthcare revenue‑cycle environment.
• Strong operational and financial leadership skills with a track record of meeting performance targets.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, 24/7 on‑call setting and respond without advance notice.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting to faculty, administrators, and staff.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and university policies.
