Senior Local Bridge Load Ratings Engineer (Civil Engineer IV)

About the role

The State of Illinois, Department of Transportation, is hiring a Senior Local Bridge Load Ratings Engineer (Civil Engineer IV) in Springfield, IL. Key responsibilities

• Ensure accurate detailed plans, photographs and sketches are produced for structural evaluation of local agency structures.
• Determine the structural capacity of local agency structures to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
• Advise district personnel and local agencies on bridge-related matters in line with departmental policies and procedures.
• Monitor inspection scheduling by need and efficiency of manpower use.
• Instruct district and local agency personnel on bridge inspection techniques and documentation, and train bridge inspection technicians.
• Review load ratings completed by consultants for local agencies.
• Perform load ratings for permit analysis and overlay requests.
• Carry out duties in compliance with departmental safety rules and in a way that treats all employees fairly.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, or as a Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois.
• Four years of experience in civil engineering.
