Landscape Architect

About the role

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is hiring a Landscape Architect for its Office of Realty and Capital Planning in Springfield, IL. The position acts as Chief Landscape Architect for Region 5 and works on capital projects, land acquisitions and regional reviews. It is a full-time, salaried union position with anticipated hybrid availability of 2 to 5 days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Provide preliminary planning concepts and schematic plans to guide funded capital projects.
• Coordinate regional reviews of all capital projects and initiate threatened and endangered species and cultural resource reviews and sign-offs.
• Coordinate regional reviews for potential land acquisitions in Region 5 by supplying maps and legal descriptions of each parcel.
• Under general direction, serve as Chief Landscape Architect for Region 5.
• Provide design and planning services for site developments such as roads, parking, signs and utilities to ensure facility quality and protection of resources.
• Analyze resource management and outdoor recreation issues and develop recommendations.

Required profile

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the State does not sponsor employment visas.
