Senior Litigation Paralegal

About the role

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s Legal Department is seeking a Senior Litigation Paralegal committed to social justice. You will provide comprehensive litigation support, conduct legal research, and assist with case development across the organization’s impact areas.

Key responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with case management, including drafting pleadings, discovery requests, and legal filings.
• Maintain and organize case files and documents in the department’s database and case‑management platform.
• Conduct substantive legal research, verify evidence, and investigate factual issues.
• Prepare briefs, tables of authority, and other court documents.
• Support deposition and trial preparation, including document production and review.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to advance litigation strategies.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience as a paralegal or legal researcher with strong project‑management abilities.
• Adaptable and able to respond quickly to case updates and changing priorities.
• Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with legal software applications and databases.
• Collaborative team player who can also lead projects when needed.
• Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
