Senior Layout PCB Engineer

About the role

Etched builds AI chips hard-coded for individual model architectures, and is looking for a PCB Layout Engineer to help design and optimise printed circuit boards for its high-performance data center products. The work centres on high-speed signalling, including 100G applications, power distribution, large BGA ball-map breakouts and complex HDI stack-ups, using Cadence Allegro.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise high-speed PCB layouts in Cadence Allegro for 100G signalling, applying impedance matching, trace routing and crosstalk mitigation.
• Develop power distribution networks, including power planes, decoupling strategies and thermal management solutions.
• Design complex HDI stack-ups for multi-layer boards, integrating blind/buried vias and microvias.
• Work with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate PCB designs into the system architecture, giving input during design reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
• 10 years of experience in PCB layout design focused on high-speed signalling, power distribution and HDI stack-ups, ideally for data center products.
• Experience with complex HDI PCB design and manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of power distribution network design and thermal management for data center applications.
