Mechanical Engineer - Data Center Chassis

About the role

Etched builds AI chips tailored to specific model architectures, and is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to turn complex designs into reliable, high-power data center products. The engineer works from concept through production, collaborating with internal design teams and external partners such as Joint Design Manufacturers (JDMs).

Key responsibilities

• Develop and refine mechanical designs for high-power data center products, managing the transition from appearance models to production-ready designs.
• Design data center chassis and enclosures from concept through production, meeting high power, cooling efficiency and ruggedness requirements.
• Work with internal teams and JDM partners to integrate mechanical designs with the overall product architecture.
• Oversee soft and hard tooling development so that tooling meets strict quality and consistency specifications.
• Ensure designs comply with manufacturing requirements, including shock and vibration standards.
• Apply DFM principles to optimize designs for cost-effective manufacturing, assembly and maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in mechanical design or manufacturing are a plus.
• At least 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering focused on high-power data center products, with a proven track record designing and managing chassis and enclosures.
• Deep understanding of data center chassis design, high-power and cooling requirements, and tooling processes (soft and hard tooling).
• Familiarity with manufacturing standards such as shock and vibration testing.

Required skills

• Proficiency in mechanical CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, FX, CATIA or similar.
• Strong mechanical design and engineering principles, with hands-on experience turning industrial design concepts into production-ready models.
