Senior Journeyman HVAC Technician – Marine Campus

About the role

The University of Miami’s Marine Campus is seeking a Senior Journeyman HVAC Technician to maintain and repair its heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning and related building systems. The role ensures reliable operation of the central chiller plant, air handling units and cooling towers while supporting campus comfort and energy efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date records of work performed and report to management.
• Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on HVAC equipment.
• Read and interpret prints, sketches and diagrams to execute tasks.
• Estimate repair costs and report them to management.
• Keep work areas orderly and safeguard tools, equipment and parts.
• Train staff on equipment maintenance and service procedures.
• Operate central chiller plant and air‑handling systems efficiently.
• Maintain repair parts inventory and assist with coil cleaning, cooling‑tower servicing, and chemical treatment system upkeep.
• Install and maintain chilled water pumps, strainers, and related components.
• Adhere to university policies, safety and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant HVAC experience.
• Valid Journeyman HVAC license from Miami‑Dade County.
• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
• Attention to detail and commitment to university core values.
