Senior Infrastructure Engineer (TS/SCI)

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer in Columbia, MD, to act as technical lead for enterprise infrastructure across classified networks. The role covers compute, storage, network, virtualization and identity management platforms, sets engineering standards, drives modernization and keeps systems reliable, secure and scalable. It is an IAT3 billet, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, all onsite, with occasional after-hours work.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer and maintain enterprise infrastructure such as Cisco UCS, Microsoft Active Directory, storage platforms, Windows Server and core network infrastructure.
• Architect and support network solutions including routing, switching, segmentation and secure communications across classified environments.
• Develop infrastructure standards, baselines, roadmaps and technical documentation, and lead modernization, migrations and lifecycle management.
• Manage storage, data protection, backups, disaster recovery and capacity planning.
• Administer identity services (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services).
• Plan and execute upgrades, patches, firmware updates and change management.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis and collaborate with cybersecurity on vulnerability remediation, STIG implementation and hardening.
• Mentor infrastructure personnel and support after-hours maintenance and emergency response.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure.
• Security clearance: TS / SCI.
• One or more certifications: CISM, CISSP or equivalent senior-level baseline, plus a vendor certification (Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, NetApp, Pure Storage, HP, Dell, Linux+, Red Hat, HBSS, ACAS); candidates without an active cert must obtain one within 6 months.
• Preferred: bachelor's degree, federal government or DoD experience, NIST RMF/800-53, STIGs and CIS benchmark experience, VMware/Hyper-V/Nutanix experience, backup and DR experience, prior military experience.
