Senior Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Howden, a global insurance group, is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for a US regional role based in Minneapolis. The position sits in a distributed, global infrastructure operations team that keeps hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructure available, supporting local cloud, data centre and network infrastructure within the US region. It is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide escalation support to the Group IT Service Desk.
• Ensure all changes to production services follow change control.
• Produce and update documentation to improve system efficiency and effectiveness.
• Carry out root cause analysis after unplanned disruptions and manage repeat incidents (problem management).
• Use incident management systems to identify trends and resolve issues.
• Build strong relationships with business units, respond to their needs and support them with IT systems.
• Maintain accurate records, comply with policies, legal and regulatory requirements and the anti-bribery and corruption policy.

Required profile

• Previous experience in the insurance or financial services sector.
• Examples of similar successful positions in the past.
• Highly collaborative, with a 'can-do' attitude and strong customer service and empathy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, possibly multi-lingual, with Spanish highly desirable.

Required skills

• Extensive experience with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure and M365.
• Multi-site, multi-forest Active Directory, group policy and DNS.
• Windows desktop troubleshooting and experience with cloud, server, desktop, network and telephony providers.
• Networking: Layer 2/3, dynamic routing, MPLS and firewall management; Cisco, Palo Alto and CATO SD-WAN preferred.
• IT security, event logging and alerting tools.
• Desirable: Windows Server, SCCM, Nutanix/VMware/Hyper-V, PowerShell, Tanium/CrowdStrike, Entra ID, Netskope, Keyfactor, PKI, Imperva WAF.
