Senior Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Howden, a global insurance group, is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for a US regional role based in Minneapolis. The position sits in a distributed, global infrastructure operations team that keeps hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructure available, supporting local cloud, data centre and network infrastructure within the US region. It is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide escalation support to the Group IT Service Desk.
• Ensure all changes to production services follow change control.
• Produce and update documentation to improve system efficiency and effectiveness.
• Carry out root cause analysis after unplanned disruptions and manage repeat incidents (problem management).
• Use incident management systems to identify trends and resolve issues.
• Build strong relationships with business units, respond to their needs and support them with IT systems.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with group policies, legal and regulatory requirements and anti-bribery procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in the insurance or financial services sector.
• Examples of similar successful positions in the past.
• Collaborative attitude, excellent customer service and clear verbal and written communication; Spanish is highly desirable.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise and continuously improve.

Required skills

• Extensive experience with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure and M365, and with multi-site, multi-forest Active Directory, group policy and DNS.
• Windows desktop troubleshooting, server technologies (Windows Server 2022, 2019, 2016, 2012), SCCM and patching.
• Networking (Layer 2/3, dynamic routing, MPLS, firewall management); Cisco, Palo Alto firewalls and CATO SD-WAN preferred.
• Incident and problem management, and knowledge of security tools such as Tanium, CrowdStrike, Netskope, Keyfactor, PKI and Imperva WAF.
