Senior Indirect Tax Analyst

About the role

The Senior Indirect Tax Analyst will join a high‑performing finance team within a multi‑billion‑dollar global organization. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with state and local sales and use tax regulations, managing multi‑state audit defenses, and identifying opportunities to reduce tax exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage multi‑state audit defense for Sales & Use, Severance, Business License, and Fuel Taxes.
• Address and resolve tax‑related issues for external customers promptly and professionally.
• Respond to inquiries from internal stakeholders and vendors regarding state and local tax regulations.
• Prepare account reconciliations related to Sales & Use tax activity.
• Conduct research on complex multi‑state Sales & Use tax matters.
• Support due‑diligence efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and similar business activities involving multi‑state tax implications.
• Provide research and technical input for SAP and Vertex tax systems to ensure accurate tax determination.
• Draft technical letters and correspondence to state agencies to clarify tax law interpretations.
• Obtain and implement special tax exemptions when appropriate.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance efficiency and accuracy within tax processes.
• Develop and deliver training to internal teams on Sales & Use tax topics.
• Assist with efforts to meet compliance requirements for all Sales & Use Tax obligations.
• Perform other duties as needed to support overall tax compliance and operational goals.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years of experience in multi‑state Sales & Use tax audit defense.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Master’s degree and/or CPA certification preferred.
