Senior HSI/HFE Systems Engineer

About the role

The Senior HSI/HFE Systems Engineer applies systems‑engineering fundamentals to both unmanned ROVs and manned submersible platforms, guiding design activities under program management direction and collaborating with OTECH personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concepts of operations, operational scenarios, and vignettes for submersible systems.
• Produce requirements specifications, interface control documents, and detailed drawings.
• Conduct task and workload analyses, human‑in‑the‑loop evaluations, and usability testing.
• Create human‑centric test plans and procedures, supporting human systems integration across seven HSI domains.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering teams to ensure compliance with client requirements and DoD standards.

Required profile

• BS in Human Factors, Industrial/Systems Engineering, Cognitive Science or related field (MS preferred).
• 3–5+ years of applied HSI/HFE experience in DoD acquisition or a comparable safety‑critical domain.
• Demonstrated experience with MIL‑STD‑1472, MIL‑STD‑882, DoDI 5000‑series, and HITL testing.
• Proficiency with requirements‑management tools (Cradle, DOORS, Jama) and model‑based systems engineering (SysML).
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
