Senior Hardware Lab Technician

About the role

Sandbar is seeking a senior Hardware Lab Technician to support the development of new wearable consumer electronics. You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and quality engineers to ensure efficient lab operations, prototype testing, and rapid iteration in a fast‑paced startup environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced electrical and mechanical testing, debugging, and rework on prototypes, including failure analysis and root‑cause reporting.
• Build and assemble electronic devices, mechanical fixtures, and test setups; develop automated test scripts using LabVIEW or Python.
• Order, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols such as ESD and chemical handling.
• Manage the full lifecycle of prototype hardware, from receipt and inventory tracking to secure storage, distribution, and disposal.
• Own and optimize hardware‑specific IT systems, including network configurations and cloud‑based data logging tools.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience as a lab technician in hardware product development, preferably in consumer electronics or wearables.
• Proven expertise in fine‑pitch soldering and PCB assembly, modification, and validation.
• Ability to read complex electrical schematics and board layouts, and perform signal‑integrity analysis.
