Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

About the role

Quartermaster is building a global maritime intelligence platform that turns vessels into a distributed sensing network. As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer you will own end‑to‑end features for the operator‑facing application used by defense analysts, coast guard operators, and commercial fleet managers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship full‑stack features across the React web portal and Spring Boot backend services.
• Develop and maintain versioned RESTful APIs that expose sensor data, vessel telemetry, and AI detection outputs.
• Architect and evolve microservices on AWS, ensuring reliability, scalability, and low latency for high‑throughput data streams.
• Optimize PostGIS queries for bulk artifact retrieval, map rendering, and time‑series analysis.
• Build internal admin and fleet‑management tools for configuring and monitoring SmartMast units.
• Collaborate with design to implement pixel‑precise UI components for data‑dense map views.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and own service reliability and incident response.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional full‑stack software engineering experience.
• Strong command of React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript for complex, stateful web applications.
• Solid backend experience with Spring Boot and designing scalable REST APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with PostGIS and writing performant geospatial queries.
• Working knowledge of AWS services (S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS, IoT Core, CloudWatch) and infrastructure‑as‑code tooling.
• Experience with microservices, containerization (Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
